Prof. Xiaowei Gao

Dalian University of Technology, China

Biography:

Prof. Xiao-Wei GAO is the director of the Institute of Thermal Protection Technology of Aircraft, Dalian University of Technology, China. He is the national expert on significant projects in China and the leading scientist at Dalian University of Technology. He served as the Associate Editor of the International Journal “Engineering Analysis with Boundary Elements” and the Editor of the Journal “Propulsion Technology." His main research interests are in multi-physics coupled computational methods, the boundary element method, and the finite element method. In recent years, he has also focused his attention on the mesh-free method. He was the principal investigator of more than 40 research projects sponsored by the National Significant Projects of China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and relevant industries. He authored or co-authored four monographs and more than 300 journal papers. He derived a new mathematical formulation called Radial Integration Method (RIM) for BEM, proposed a new strong-form FEM called Element Differential Method (EDM), a new mesh-free method called Free Element Method (FrEM), and recently created a completely novel numerical method called Finite Line Method (FLM). He was awarded the Prize for Natural Science by the Ministry of Education of China and the ICACM Fellows Award by the International Chinese Association for Computational Mechanics. He was selected as the Elsevier Most Cited Chinese Researchers in 2022.

Assoc. Prof. Zhaoye Qin

Tsinghua University, China 

Biography:

Zhaoye Qin is a Ph.D. supervisor and long-term associate professor at Tsinghua University. His research interests include rotating machinery dynamics and fault diagnosis, spacecraft dynamics and cushioning design, complex nonlinear system dynamics and control, new composite materials, and vibration energy capture. He has presided over a number of national, provincial, and ministerial projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Beijing Natural Science Foundation of China, the key project of the Two Machines Basic Science Center, and the sub-projects of the National Key Research and Development Program of China, etc. He has published more than 70 SCI papers as the first or corresponding author in the related fields, including six hot papers, 16 highly cited papers, one of the most influential international papers in China, with more than 3000 citations in the SCI, and more than 20 authorized invention patents, and he has been awarded several patents. He has been authorized more than 20 invention patents, has been selected as one of the most highly cited scholars in China by Elsevier, and has been awarded the Youth Science and Technology Award of the China Society of Vibration Engineering and the Second Prize of Science and Technology of the China Society of Vibration Engineering.

Prof. Jin Zhou

Xi' an Jiaotong University, China

Biography:

Jin Zhou, National Young Distinguished Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, and Honorary Research Fellow of the University of Liverpool. Dr. Zhou graduated from the University of Liverpool, UK, and has been working at the University of Cambridge and Imperial College of Science and Technology. His research interests include the impact dynamics of aerospace composites, lightweight structural design optimization, advanced manufacturing, and rapid prototyping theory. His main achievements have been published in Composites Science and Technology, Composite Structures, Composite Part B, and other well-known journals in the field of composites. He has received engineering applications in lightweight, impact-resistant, and energy-absorbing structures for commercial airliners and additive manufacturing. He worked as a senior structural engineer in the UK industry, leading industrial R&D projects in structural mechanics optimization and friction welding additive manufacturing, and obtaining industrial technology licenses in several countries.

Prof. Rui Li

Dalian University of Technology, China

Biography:

Dr. Rui Li is a full professor in the Department of Engineering Mechanics at Dalian University of Technology. He was a visiting scholar with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern University, USA. His research interests include plate and shell structures, the mechanics of flexible electronics, soft matter, and the mechanics of aeronautics and astronautics. He has published 100 journal papers in Nature, Science, Advanced Functional Materials, Soft Matter, International Journal of Solids and Structures, Proceedings of the Royal Society A, Journal of Applied Mechanics, etc., with more than 2000 citations. He is now serving on the editorial board of the NPG journal Scientific Reports.
