Biography:
Wei Sun, male, born in May 1975, holds a Ph.D. in engineering and is from Yingkou, Liaoning. He is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Northeastern University. Sun is a member of Academician Wen Bangchun’s research group and a key researcher at the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Vibration and Control for Aero-engine Equipment. He serves as a member of the Rotor Dynamics Committee, the Vibration and Noise Control Committee, and the Spacecraft Vibration and Control Committee of the Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering. His main research areas include the dynamics of mechanical structural systems and vibration control. As first or corresponding author, he has published over 130 SCI-indexed papers and more than 60 EI-indexed papers. He has led four National Natural Science Foundation projects (including youth and general programs), one sub-project of the Major National Defense Equipment Special Project, one sub-project of the National Defense 973 Program, one targeted project funded by the Shenyang Natural Science Foundation, three basic research projects funded by central universities, and five enterprise-funded projects. He holds 10 granted invention patents and 10 software copyrights. Sun has contributed to five academic monographs and served as chief editor for six planned textbooks. He has received numerous provincial and ministerial awards, including the Liaoning Provincial First and Second Prizes for Technological Invention, First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress from Liaoning Province and the Ministry of Education, Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress from the Metallurgical Industry Federation, two Second Prizes for Technological Invention from the Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering, the Second Prize for Natural Science from the Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering, and the Second Prize for Teaching Achievements from Liaoning Province—totaling 10 provincial and ministerial honors. His graduate students have won the Liaoning Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Awards in 2022 and 2023, as well as the Excellent Master’s Dissertation Awards in 2023 and 2024. Many of his students have also received Northeastern University’s Excellent Doctoral and Master’s Dissertation Awards. He was honored as an Outstanding Graduate Supervisor of Liaoning Province in 2024.
